Mike Weinstein - The Rule Breaking Beverage Guy

1. Weinstein beat Mark Spitz at the 100M freestyle in 1969 at the Hall of Fame Pool in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. At the time, Spitz was warming up and did not realize Weinstein was racing him. But a victory is a victory.

2. Weinstein began his career in 1972 as a merchandiser with the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Group in Long Island City, New York.

3. While Weinstein is known in the industry for his work on A&W Root Beer between 1981 and 1993, very few people know he worked on both On-Tap Root Beer (from Pepsi) and Ramblin’ Root Beer (from Coke).

4. Weinstein ran 5 marathons with a PR of 2:43:57 in the NYC Marathon in 1980. That exceeds by two the number of knee surgeries he needed to offset the damage.

5. When Weinstein was named CEO at Snapple in 1997, he didn’t have any gray hair. OK, maybe he had a few.

6. Weinstein was the only CEO of a major beverage company to have attended the original Woodstock in the summer of 1969.

Mike Weinstein is a busy guy. He is currently Chairman of INOV8 Beverage Company and spends most of his mornings dreaming up new beverage ideas. Once in a while he actually comes up with a good one and then spends the afternoon to find someone will will buy it. Find out more about his quest at inov8bevco.com.

Mike is also the lead consultant at Liquid Logic. He has the most beverage experience, best analytical skills and greatest innovation talent in the company. He is also the only employee. If you want to learn more about his consulting services, click the consulting tab above.

Mike decided to become a consultant after retiring from Cadbury Schweppes at the end of 2003. His actual retirement was timed at 14 hours and 27 minutes at which point he began working on a speech that chronicled the amazing history of Snapple from 1972-2003. You can find out more about that speech (entitled "Snap Judgments") by clicking on the speech tab at the top of the page. Warning: Mike no longer speaks for free so if you want to hear what he has to say it's going to cost you.

Mike is best known for his roles as the CEO of Snapple and COO of A&W Brands. Both companies were purchased by Cadbury Schweppes, a fact that Mike's family is particularly happy about. If you want to read a little more about Mike's career, check out the biography tab at the top of the page.

Mike was inducted into the Beverage World Hall of Fame in 2000. In his acceptance speech, he noted how ironic it was that Pete Rose never made the baseball Hall of Fame because he was a gambler yet Mike made it because he spent his whole beverage career gambling on new ideas. If you're in the market for some new ideas and original thinking, maybe you should try that contact button at the top.
